About
Staff member of the Department of PE & Sport Science in University of Thessaly since 2002. Nikos received his BSc in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and his MSc and PhD in Democritus University of Thrace. Apart from being a faculty member, he has 8 years teaching experience as PE instructor in the elementary and secondary level. Also, 5 years coaching volleyball teams. He has published 5 books, alone or together with colleagues (two of them are the official public books for PE in Greece), one chapter in an international book and more than 40 publications in peer reviewed national and international journals. He has more than 120 publications in national and international congress proceedings while his work has been cited in more than 134 international journals. He is a reviewer for more than 18 national and international scientific journals and member of several professional organizations like the Greek Society of Sport Psychology, the Hellenic Academy of Physical Education and International Association for Physical Education in Higher Education. Supervising student-teachers’ internships since 1999, he still spends one day per week at school settings. His main teaching work is focused on teaching methods in PE, curriculum design and school evaluation. Main research interests: learning environments in PE, enhancing motivational climate in PE settings, conducting short-term or long-term school interventions, teaching styles and teacher education. He is married and has three children. His main hobbies are writing and reading, bicycling and swimming.
